Hanging Your Artwork


Your artwork arrives ready to hang. Because framed artworks can be relatively heavy, always use wall fixings designed for framed artwork and rated comfortably above the total weight of your piece.

Classic Collection — Hanging Wire

  1. Choose a suitable heavy-duty picture hook for your wall type.

  2. For plasterboard or timber walls, we recommend properly rated angle-drive picture hooks or fixings secured into a stud where possible.

  3. For larger artworks, using two evenly spaced hooks can provide additional stability and help keep the frame level.

  4. Carefully lower the hanging wire onto the hook or hooks, then adjust the artwork until level.

Signature Collection — D-Rings

Signature artworks are fitted with two D-rings and should be hung from two separate wall fixings.

  1. Measure the distance between the two D-rings on the back of the frame.

  2. Transfer these measurements to the wall and make sure both points are level.

  3. Install two appropriately rated hooks, screws or wall anchors suited to your wall construction.

  4. With two people for larger artworks, carefully lower each D-ring directly onto its fixing.

  5. Check that both sides are securely seated before releasing the artwork.

Recommended Fixings

For plasterboard or timber walls, use properly rated heavy-duty picture hooks, angle-drive hooks, screws into wall studs, or suitable plasterboard anchors.

For brick, concrete or masonry walls, use masonry plugs and screws or picture-hanging fixings specifically designed for solid walls.

Always check the manufacturer's stated load rating and choose a fixing with a capacity comfortably greater than the artwork's weight.

What We Don't Recommend

We do not recommend:

  • standard adhesive strips or removable adhesive hooks

  • small nails or lightweight picture hooks

  • hooks or anchors without a clearly stated load rating

  • hanging a large artwork from a single fixing when two fixing points are available

Although some adhesive picture-hanging products advertise relatively high weight capacities, Peter Yan Studio artworks are supplied with dedicated hanging wire or D-rings and are best supported by mechanical wall fixings.
