Choosing a framed print size is less about memorising centimetres and more about how the piece should sit in the room. Too small and it looks timid. Too large and it can bully the wall. Somewhere in the middle, the photograph feels like it belongs.
Here is how we help people choose at Peter Yan Studio — and how to use our size guide without overthinking it.
Start with the wall, not the catalogue
Stand in front of the wall you have in mind. Notice what else is already there — a sofa, a bed, a console, a doorway. The print should relate to that furniture, not fight it.
A useful rule of thumb: for a piece hanging above a sofa or bed, aim for something roughly two-thirds the width of the furniture. That is a starting point, not a law. Open walls can take more presence. Narrow hallways usually prefer quieter scales.
Our Classic sizes
Classic Collection covers the sizes most homes need:
- Small — 59 × 42 cm — intimate walls, pairs, side rooms
- Medium — 70 × 50 cm — the easiest everyday size for most living rooms and hallways
- Large — 84 × 59 cm — clear presence without dominating
- Gallery — 119 × 84 cm — a statement on a proper wall
If you are unsure, Medium or Large Classic is where most people land. You can always go bigger later for a second piece.
When Signature makes sense
Signature Collection is for larger rooms and longer sightlines:
- Curator — 140 × 100 cm
- Masterpiece — 160 × 110 cm
These use a deeper gallery frame and heavier paper. They need space around them — not necessarily a mansion, but a wall that can breathe. If the room is compact, Classic Gallery often feels more resolved than forcing a Signature piece into a tight corner.
Remember the frame and the border
Listed sizes are the print, including the quiet white border inside the image. The finished framed piece is a little larger: Classic frames add about 2 cm each side; Signature about 3 cm. Because every frame is made by hand, a few millimetres of variation is normal.

A simple way to decide
- Pick the wall and notice what sits beneath it.
- Shortlist Medium or Large Classic unless the wall is clearly a statement wall.
- Use AR to check scale in the room.
- Only move to Gallery or Signature when the wall still feels empty at Large.
